Light cannot be seen until it reflects off an object. To make “beams of light” visible, particles must be put into the atmosphere. Various techniques are used to create particles, which in turn create different effects. The most commonly used is the haze effect, because haze is translucent until the beams reflect.  Fog, smoke, and haze come in many varieties. On the whimsical side, artificial snow and bubbles can be released reflect light.
